Meru Hospice
Meru hospice is situated in the grounds of Meru District Hospital. Difficulties in establishing the Hospice abounded. However, a great deal of hard work and faith in their vision enabled the establishment of the hospice from scratch. Dilapidated buildings were renovated and the service started with little furniture and office equipment.
It opened to the public on 21st January 2003
The core objectives of Meru Hospice in its mission to the terminally ill cancer and HIV/AIDS patients in Meru and its environs are as follows:
To develop and promote comprehensive support services for the care of the terminally ill Cancer and AIDS patients.
To develop and promote training of health care professionals involved in the care of Cancer and AIDS patients.
To create public awareness about the need to care for the terminally ill.
Home visits are often undertaken over rough poor roads.
As with all the hospices rugged 4wd vehicles are needed. The vehicle shown was part funded by HCK.
